I talk with Dr. Ray McClanahan about the importance of proper footwear. Dr. Ray tells about the mechanics of the foot and how important it is to allow it to function naturally. In this episode, I talk with Dr. Nick Campitelli about a 2 year-long case study where he demonstrated an increase in arch height from running in minimalist shoes. For the past several years he has treated running injuries in patients by fixing their form and transitioning them to minimalist shoes. Having treated runners with all types of injuries through conservative measures with orthotics and shoe gear changes to reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, Dr. Campitelli has brought what works best and is most current to his practice as well as the Akron and Cleveland running communities.
